Benalla Hash House Harriers
The Benalla Hash House Harriers is a running club which is part of a world wide fraternity. They run on Mondays at 6:00 PM on the first working day of the week and follows a course set by "The Hare". The distance of the course varies but is usually around 5 kms or a little more!. The course is marked by "The Hare" using chalk and is designed with false trails that handicaps the better runners. All runners, both the fit and not so fit alike, finish the course together. The start "The run site" is different each week. It's fun to run with a group working together as a team to catch "The Hare". We run all year round. In winter the runs are usually set by a "LIVE HARE" and you need to bring a torch to find the "checks" .

Yearly subscriptions are and fall due on the completion of a virgin runners third run or soon after the annual general meeting in October. Currently they are $15 per year for everyone.
Runners 100th run is celebrated by having to complete a PUB run visiting 6 pub and drinking a Pot of beer at each. Yes we sing the "Down Down" song while we are waiting!!!!
April is the end of Day light savings and to celebrate the start of the torch light runs for the year we have a Pizza run. A run set by the "GM" followed by Pizza & Beer (on the house).
Significant events, like 69, 181 100, 200, 300 and 400 runs earn the Hasher the right to do a "Down Down". A "Down Down" consists of 500mls of VERY COLD beer in a pewter mug. The Benalla HHH record is held by "Gully Trap", 5 seconds. Try that on a cold night after a run.
Stubbies are now $2.50, Maggit got his way.
